A Carnival cruise has provided the internet with another one of those moments that probably wasn't included in anyone's holiday itinerary.

Video showing several women involved in a physical altercation aboard Carnival Horizon has spread across social media after being filmed during a recent six-night Caribbean cruise.

The footage is brief, but chaotic.

Several women can be seen exchanging blows on an outdoor deck as other passengers watch the confrontation unfold. The incident also results in an unfortunate wardrobe malfunction, making the original footage explicit.

Exactly what started the confrontation remains unclear, and Carnival Cruise Line has not publicly confirmed what action was taken against the passengers involved.

Fight filmed aboard Carnival Horizon

The video appears to have been recorded during Carnival Horizon's six-night Western Caribbean cruise from Miami, which departed on September 20 and returned on September 26.

The itinerary included Celebration Key in The Bahamas, Montego Bay in Jamaica and Grand Cayman.

By the time the recording begins, the confrontation is already underway, so the footage doesn't show what happened beforehand.

Several women can be seen involved before the short clip ends.

The person who recorded the incident, social media creator Hunter Maine, subsequently posted another video discussing what he says happened before and after the footage.

According to his account, he later spoke with two of the women involved, who told him they had not expected the confrontation to become physical.

That account has not been independently verified, and there has been no public statement from Carnival explaining what led to the incident.

The original footage can also be viewed on Hunter Maine's social media page.

Warning: the original video contains brief accidental nudity during the altercation.

What happened after the fight?

Maine also claims Carnival security became involved following the incident and that some of the women were taken away.

However, it isn't known whether any passengers were confined to their cabins, removed from the ship, fined or banned from sailing with Carnival.

Carnival has not publicly announced any disciplinary action relating to this particular incident.

That's an important distinction because cruise lines have considerable authority to deal with disruptive behaviour while passengers are onboard.

And Carnival's rules are fairly blunt about what can happen.

Fighting on a Carnival cruise can get very expensive

Carnival's Code of Conduct states that disruptive behaviour affecting the comfort, enjoyment, safety or wellbeing of other guests or crew isn't tolerated.

Passengers who breach the policy can potentially face a US$500 fine, confinement to their stateroom or removal from the ship.

Carnival also says guests whose conduct affects the safety or wellbeing of others can be disembarked at their own expense and banned from sailing with Carnival in the future.

If Carnival incurs costs because a passenger has to be detained or removed, the guest may also be responsible for those expenses.

So while a few seconds of cruise drama might generate millions of views online, the consequences onboard can potentially last considerably longer.

There is currently no confirmation that any of those penalties were imposed following the Carnival Horizon incident.

Carnival has banned passengers after previous fights

Carnival's warnings aren't merely theoretical.

The cruise line has previously placed passengers on its Do Not Sail list following serious physical confrontations.

In June 2026, a large fight involving two families erupted in the debarkation area at PortMiami following a Carnival Conquest cruise.

Police described that incident as mutual combat and those involved reportedly declined to pursue criminal charges, but Carnival nevertheless confirmed that 16 people involved would no longer be permitted to sail with the cruise line.

Another widely shared confrontation involving Carnival Jubilee passengers in Galveston in 2025 resulted in 24 people being placed on Carnival's Do Not Sail list.

That doesn't mean the passengers involved in the latest Carnival Horizon incident will face the same punishment.

For now, Carnival hasn't publicly confirmed whether any bans or other penalties were issued.

Another cruise fight becomes social media entertainment

Cruise ship fights have become particularly effective social media fodder.

Thousands of people are travelling together, phones are everywhere and an altercation lasting less than a minute can be online before the ship reaches its next port.

The latest video has inevitably prompted another round of debate about passenger behaviour on cruises.

Some commenters have blamed alcohol or suggested fights are more common aboard shorter cruises, but there is no evidence establishing that alcohol contributed to this incident.

And Carnival Horizon wasn't operating a quick weekend getaway. The cruise lasted six nights.

Whatever triggered this particular confrontation, it didn't stay aboard Carnival Horizon for long.

What happened on the ship may have lasted only seconds.

The internet, unsurprisingly, has made sure it lasts considerably longer.
